NOHFC's Community Events Stream gives municipalities, Indigenous communities, not-for-profits, and Local Services Boards up to 30% of eligible costs to a maximum of $15,000 (conditional contribution) for new or recurring tourism-drawing community events. Apply at least 16 weeks before the event, past events are never funded. You can take 50% on signing and the rest after the final event report, or claim it all post-report. The Board may exceed caps for events with significant economic benefit.

Application process
- Submit online application at least 16 weeks before the event date
- Execute conditional contribution agreement (optional 50% advance available at signing)
- Deliver event, submit required final event report
- Claim remaining funding (or claim 100% in one claim after the final report)

Common questions
How much can we get for our festival or event?
Up to 30% of total eligible costs to a maximum of $15,000. The NOHFC Board may consider more on a case-by-case basis where the event demonstrates significant economic benefit.
When do we have to apply?
At least 16 weeks before the event date. Applications for events that have already occurred are not considered.
When is the money paid?
Either 50% on execution of the conditional contribution agreement with the remainder after the final event report, or 100% in a single claim after the final event report.
Do in-kind contributions count?
In-kind contributions count toward the total project cost but are not eligible for reimbursement. Note assets financed by NOHFC may trigger reimbursement if sold within three years of project completion.
