What counts as Northern Ontario?
Each program draws its own boundary, and the differences decide eligibility. NOHFC, FedNor and the Northern Health Travel Grant use different maps.
The 11 census districts below are Northern Ontario for every major program. The differences appear at the southern edge: Muskoka has been in FedNor's service area for years and was restored to NOHFC eligibility in January 2025. The boundary guide covers the details.
