Common questions
Do I have to take the training to get the $5,000?
Yes, the grant is tied to completing the program: workshops (business profile, market analysis, marketing, operations, financials), weekly consultant meetings, and mentorship. Workshops alone are open to all, but only enrolled participants can apply for the grant.
Is there an age limit?
You must be 18 or older, there is no upper age limit. (Some directories list 18-29; the BEC's own page says 18+, Ontario resident, not attending school full-time.)
Can I use it to buy an existing business?
Yes, starting, expanding, or purchasing a business all qualify.
