North Bay Growth Community Improvement Plan

by City of North Bay

Also known as: Growth CIP · GCIP

North Bay's Growth CIP is the umbrella for the city's development incentives across four target areas: Downtown, Housing, Industrial, and Waterfront. Each area has its own grants, tax incentives, and fee waivers set out in per-area guideline documents (2019 plan, since expanded with Housing Accelerator Fund top-ups). The best-documented stream is Housing, up to 75% of costs to $25,000 per dwelling unit. Start with a pre-consultation: growthcip@northbay.ca.

Common questions

What are the four target areas?

Downtown, Housing, Industrial, and Waterfront. Each has specific financial incentives, beautification grants, tax incentives, fee waivers, detailed in its own guideline document and information sheet on northbay.ca.

Do I need a pre-consultation?

Strongly recommended. Planning staff ask that you email growthcip@northbay.ca or call 705-474-0400 ext. 2414 before applying, to confirm your project fits program parameters.

Where are the dollar amounts for industrial, downtown, and waterfront incentives?

In the per-area guideline PDFs on the city's Growth CIP pages, the city does not publish them on the summary pages, so confirm figures with staff for your specific stream.
